Anyone who engages with games from Wordle to Call of Duty will have noticed how much we ‘can’ learn through games.

From epic titles like Fortnite, Halo or Fallout whose Game Lore is PhD level down to indie break-outs like Papers, Please games are innately instructional or accidentally educational.

This coincidental learning (adjacent knowledge capture) is very rarely the purpose of the game. You might throw around Greek god analogies from your time playing Immortals Fenyx Rising. Perhaps your kids. like ours, understand the concept of mortgages thanks to Animal Crossing.

PSS see that as a feature, rather than a bug.

Studios know the potential of ‘Serious Games’ (that’s the academic term) but the market for them is nascent at best.
